Crochet a Daffodil

Abbreviations

MR - magic ring

ch(s) - chain(s)

st(s) - stitches

dc - double crochet

htr - half treble

tr - treble

dtr - double treble

inc – increase by working 2 stitches into stitch

2tog – work 2 stitches together

slst - slip stitch

Materials

Light Yellow, yellow and green wool (the size will vary, depending on the wool used)

Crochet hook

Tapestry needle

Scissors

To make the daffodil

Dafodil trumpet

Using yellow ch 5 stitches. Slst to make a ring

R1 : 5 dc into the ring (5 stitches)
R2 : dc inc in each stitch (10 stitches)
R3 : (dc, dc inc) repeat 5 times (15 stitches)
R4 - 5 : 15 dc (15 stitches)
R6 : (dc, make a picot in each stitch), slst to join

Fasten off, leave a long tail for sewing

Petals (make 6)

Using light yellow ch 9 stitches.

R1 : dc in second hook from chain, 1 tr, 2 dtr in one loop, 2 dtr in one loop, 1 etr, 1 tr, 1 htr, 1 dc, make a picot, 1 dc, 1 htr, 1 tr, 1 etr, 2 dtr in one loop, 2 dtr in one loop, 1 tr, 1 dc.

Fasten off, leave a long tail for sewing

Using tapestry needle, thread all 6 petals onto a length of wool. Pull the wool tight to gather the petals and tie with a knot to secure.

Leaf

Using green ch 13 stitches.

R1 : 1 dc, 2 htr, 6 tr, 2 htr, 1dc, make a picot
R2 : continue back along chain 1 dc, 2 htr, 6 tr, 2 htr, 1 dc

Fasten off

Sew the daffodil trumpet to the centre of the flower

Sew the leaf to the back of the flower.
