inc – increase by working 2 stitches into stitch

2tog – work 2 stitches together

Red, 2 shades of pink and white wool

To make the bug

Using red ch 4 stitches. Slst to make a ring

R1 : dc6 stitches into the centre of the ring (6 stitches)
R2 : dc inc into each stitch (12 stitches)
R3 : (dc, dc inc) repeat 6 times (18 stitches)
R4 : 18dc (18 stitches)
R5 : 18dc (18 stitches)

Change to pink. Add the eyes.

R6 and R7 – Using light pink 18dc (18 stitches). On the last stitch of R7 change to dark pink.

R8 - R9 : 18 dc (18 stitches). On the last stich of R9 change to red.

R10 - R11: 18 dc (18 stitches). On the last stich of R11 change to dark pink

R12 : 18 dc (18 stitches)

Stuff the bug at this point.

R13 : (dc, dc 2tog) 6 times (12 stitches)

R14 : dc 2tog 6 times (6 stitches)

R15 : dc 2tog 3 times (3 stitches)

Fasten off

To make the wings 

Make 2 wings

To begin, ch 5 and sl st in first ch to make a ring or use a magic ring to start.

R1: Ch 2. Work the following into the ring: 3 dtr, 3 tr, ch 1, dtr, ch 1, 3

tr, 3 dtr, ch 2, sl st into centre. (19 sts).

Fasten off.

To make up

 Attach the wings to the bug with the bottom of the wings touching.
